Speaking Requests

I love economics. It holds remarkable power to explain the world around us—from markets and marriage to religion, politics, and public life. In the past, I’ve given talks on the economics of romance, the economics of religion, the birth of experimental economics, and more.

But over time, my interests have grown to include philosophy, political science, and other fields. Recently, I’ve been exploring the rapid rise of Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) programs across the United States. I’m happy to speak on this trend, or draw from my experience helping to build a growing PPE program at Florida State University, offering reflections on curriculum design, program strategy, and creating intellectual communities that excite students.

I’ve also become convinced that rigorous ideas must also be compelling. That’s why I’m now investing deeply in storytelling—how we use narrative, design, and emotional resonance to bring economic ideas to life for broader audiences. Without that emotional connection, even the best ideas often fail to stick.

If any of this resonates with your students or institution, I’d love to talk. Reach out at danorton@fsu.edu.
