Sustainable Energy: Economic and Social Impacts
Last December we received a grant from the Institute for Energy Systems, Economics, and Sustainability. In addition to our research program in experimental lab settings we will develop a course that increases understanding between topics in engineering and economic, legal, and political areas. These are fields that need more dialogue, especially, as there is a continued movement towards renewable and clean energy. We will keep you posted on what we’re reading with respect to getting prepared for the course Spring 2010.
June: We have started to develop the curriculum for the course and have met with some people from the College of Engineering to gain a better grasp on the technical aspects of energy generation. There really is a need for increased dialogue. To be honest, talking with someone from outside your discipline really reveals the amount of jargon that flies around within your own discipline.
